Boondocking Donnelly Campgrounds Idaho
Over the last several months, we have had the pleasure of traveling through some amazing parts of the north western states of the USA. Having frequented as many free campgrounds as possible, we were running out of options in this particular area, and lucky for us we came across Donnelly Campgrounds Idaho. The campground is situated 160 kilometres north of Boise, overlooking beautiful Lake Cascade. Surrounded by tranquil bushland with a backdrop of snow-covered peaks.
Luckily for us, as has been the case in many stops, we are the only ones here. With the odd person arriving to walk their dogs we have the place to ourselves. Having the choice of any spot, we pick the one with the best outlook of the lake and settle in for 2 nights.
From our vantage point we see majestic birds, gracefully soaring above. What an amazing view they must get.
The surrounding area from where we are boondocking Donnelly campgrounds Idaho, is home to a great ski resort, called Tamarack Ski Resort. Filled with an abundance of activities to participate in. Skiing and snowboarding in the winter months. Mountain biking, white water rafting and zip lining in the summer, to name just a few.
Also, the lake offers an array of activities from swimming, boating, fishing and skiing. Not to mention, relaxing at your camp, with a fire crackling in the background.
Combined, with the wafting aroma of bread baking on the campfire, tantalising your olfactory senses. What is there not to like about this little oasis just off highway 55. Supplies are just a few minutes away, in Donnelly.
Boondocking Donnelly Campgrounds Idaho Review
Boondocking Donnelly campgrounds Idaho, we were pleasantly surprised how clean and safe you feel here. There are at least 15 camps spots to choose from. Each has a fire pit, table and chairs and there is a toilet block present. It costs $10 per night (you must have cash) with a limit of 7 days.
We had no trouble with our 23-foot RV moving around. However, one section of the campground maybe trickier for those with bigger rigs, due to the low hanging branches and a couple of tight areas between trees. The road around the camp site is gravel but well maintained. Our WiFi signal worked well, having no problems streaming Netflix. Overall, we really enjoyed our 2 nights here and would have no hesitation recommending it to fellow boondockers.
