Boondocking Cedar Draw Park

As the sounds of truck engines encroach into my dream, I realise that the sub conscious state I am in is not my reality. Quickly the slumbering mind awakes to loud, persistent drones of multiple truck engines running. How quickly does ones reality change, sometimes for good, sometimes for bad! Regardless, of how my sleep is broken, with it brings the dawn of a new day. New adventures, new horizons, new reality. Lucky for us, a much more serene and peaceful spot awaits us, boondocking Cedar Draw Park in Filer Idaho. Ahead lies 280 kilometres of what would turn out to be very basic landscape scenery. However, that would be broken by the amazing chasms, waterfall, and manmade structures. This is what greets us coming into Twin Falls, Idaho. However, we will unpack that in an upcoming post. For now, let us review Cedar Draw Park.

Boondocking Cedar Draw Park Review

Cedar Draw Park lies within Filer, which is located about 14 kilometres west of Twin Falls, Idaho. Set in an idyllic rural setting, it caters for day trippers and overnight travellers alike. Turning off US-30 we are greeted by a loop road with a calming creek cascading through the centre of the park.

Surrounding the creek lies a well kept grassy area, littered with covered picnic tables and chairs. Also, to the west of the loop road overnight travellers have the option of 6 RV sites. These cost $12 per night, with a maximum of 7 nights per stay.

Additionally, there are two bathroom buildings and trash cans for our rubbish. Also, we felt safe for the night. Though a couple cars came and went during the night.

Although, this place was a great stop, boondocking Cedar Draw Park did have some minor issues. There was no dump station available. Potable water is here but it was pad locked. Also, the parking spots were not flat, so levelling is required. AT&T signals was 1-2 bars and was a little slow with a few dropouts. Occasionally, you would hear a truck from US-30 but this was not a big issue.

Overall, boondocking Cedar Draw Park was a perfect spot to spend the night. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. I would imagine in peak periods it would be very busy and maybe hard to get a powered site.
