The Pier Café Stronachlachar Scotland

Today we find ourselves weaving our way through the stunning countryside of the Scottish Highlands. Heading towards Stronachlachar pier the starting point to a leisurely cruise on Loch Katrine in The Trossachs National Park. As always, we are running early just as, we like it. After all, you never know what issues you may encounter when you have a departure time that isn’t flexible. Therefore, with time to spare we head into the aptly named “The Pier Café” to get our tickets and enjoy a much-needed cup of coffee. However, to our surprise, we are informed that we are at the wrong pier. But thankfully the lovely staff advise us that this happens regularly and we can still board here. Needless to say, we are very thankful, because there is no way we would make it to the other pier in time.

Consequently, we now have time for breakfast and a coffee at “The Pier Café”. The café is situated on the western side of the scenic Loch Katrine. After ordering bacon and eggs with a caramel latte we take our seats in the warm enclosed veranda. We are treated to spectacular views of the Loch and surrounding mountains of The Trossachs National Park. Soaking in the atmosphere our lattes arrive in what seems a few seconds. Sipping on our smooth roasted caramel lattes we recline in comfort transfixed on the incredible vista that envelops us. Even though the day is overcast, cold and extremely windy it still is an awesome sight. Not long after our meal arrives, thanking the waitress we dig into our bacon and eggs.

The Pier Café Ratings

Carolyn and I both agree that “The Pier Café” is definitely worth a visit if you are in The Trossachs National Park. The views are amazing, the staff are very friendly, the food was delicious and the service very quick. If you arrive by boat we would recommend getting off and have some food and drinks while waiting for the next boat. However, if arriving by car for the boat make sure you give yourselves some extra time to grab a bite. You won’t be disappointed by the food, service or scenery. Carolyn and I would like to thank The Pier Café and the staff for a wonderful experience and rest assured that if we ever return to Stronachlachar we will absolutely come back.

Morning Coffee Afternoon Tea Review

Morning Coffee Afternoon Tea Review

Morning Coffee Afternnon Tea Review

For those that love morning coffee afternoon tea, we do too!!! Travelling around the world we have been fortunate to patronise many cafes, drinking lots of coffee.  In fact, cafes are probably the number one places we have frequented in our travels. On the whole, we haven’t discovered too many places where we have really enjoyed the coffee, till now. Overall, we have found the coffee has been bitter, too strong or weak or just doesn’t taste good. So, to our great surprise in a small village north of York UK, we have unearthed a perfect little café. Having now dropped in on this cafe twice in a week we can honestly say that it is the best café we have been too. So, what makes this café so great in our eyes you may ask?

That’s a good question, which hopefully, I can shed some light on for you. Morning Coffee Afternoon Teacafé is situated in the lovely country village of Easingwold in Yorkshire. Entering the café, you get a sense of home radiating through the place. The aromas of freshly prepared food and coffee fill every nook of the café. We are greeted warmly by our host as we take a seat to peruse the menu. Having asked some questions about the menu, we order two caramel lattes and two egg and bacon rolls. Now, we relax in our big comfortable chairs and watch the world go by through the big windows. Before long we are presented with our caramel lattes, the coffee fragrance wafting upwards tantalizing our olfactory sensors. Followed closely by our egg and bacon rolls, that round off the bouquet of amazing food scents.

The Holy Grail of Coffee

Raising the glass to my mouth I pick up the aromatic smell of the coffee blended with the sweet perfume of caramel. Taking that first sip, bliss fills my being. The smooth roasted coffee coupled with the sweet blend of caramel caress my taste buds. As the golden liquid descends to my core the thoughts of the next sip itch my mind. Coffee addicts know what I mean, right!!! 😊 The itch that can only be scratched by that next wonderful mouthful of coffee. Turning to the egg and bacon that sits between a soft white roll catches my eye. Albeit, I am taken away from my coffee I take the roll between my hands and take that first initial bite. Love envelops my taste buds, they are torn between roll or coffee. Hence, I have to share the love from coffee to roll and back.

Ok, so I may be over dramatizing a little, but the fact is the coffee and the bacon and egg roll were delicious and worthy of a post. Also, the service was excellent the staff were very friendly and courteous. Our bill was £12 which we believe is brilliant compared to what we have paid at other cafes. The ambience was lovely and our overall experience was wonderful. We enjoyed it so much we have been back already and intend to go once more before we leave Easingwold. On our second visit, we had lattes again, also a BLT sandwich and Chicken and mayo sandwich. Both were lovely and this bill was only £11. If you ever visit Easingwold UK we highly recommend stopping in and having a bite to eat and a coffee. 5 stars from us 😊.

Queens Fish and Chip Bar Droitwich

Queens Fish and Chip Bar Droitwich

Queens Fish and Chip Bar Droitwich UK

Coming to the UK we had been told about the amazing fish and chips that were available. Hence, we were eager to try some having been away from home for over three months. However, after numerous attempts, we started to believe finding a shop that sold great fish and chips in the UK may be just a myth. Eventually, we came across Queens Fish and Chip Bar in Droitwich Spa. Finally, we had found a shop that served great fish and chips.

Upon entering there was a line up to order which is always a good sign of decent food. We had decided to order fish and chips also some potatoes scollops and scampi. The guys that served us were very nice and had a joke with us. Even though it was busy it didn’t take too long for our order to come to our table. We were very surprised at the quality of the food and the portion size. The fish was very tasty, lovely batter and fish soft and flaky. The chips were cooked perfectly and tasty beautiful as were the potato scallops and scampi. We had actually ordered way too much food, we should have just ordered the fish and chips to share between the two of us.

Fish and Chips

As we ate we had a great conversation with the guys behind the counter about our travels and how good the food was. The price was not too bad, but if we hadn’t of over-ordered then it was a reasonably priced meal. That was my fault 😊 my eyes are bigger than my stomach (just, lol). We enjoyed it so much we came back for another meal, this time just ordering the fish and chips and sharing it.

I would highly recommend having a meal here if you are ever around the area, you won’t be disappointed. If we ever come back to Droitwich we will definitely stop in and get the fish and chips. Thanks, guys we really enjoyed the food and conversation. Below are their details.
